Donovan to build meditation university
Donovan has announced plans to open a university in Scotland which will teach transcendental meditation.
The 'Mellow Yellow' singer said the Invincible Donovan University will provide a traditional curriculum alongside relaxation techniques to "create invincibility in national consciousness".
The project is supported by filmmaker David Lynch, who has practised transcendental meditation for more than 34 years. The Mulholland Drive director has created his own meditation foundation, which he believes helps children perform better at school.
Donovan - who started practising the technique while travelling in India with the Beatles in 1968 - said the university would be built at the waterfront at the Firth of Forth or in an area between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
He added that he would like to teach music at the university, but would mainly work on the organisational side of the project.
