Fans tribute to Small Faces manager (Sunday September 09, 2007 09:08 AM) Hundreds of 1960s music fans gathered to mark the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate Mod band The Small Faces and their late manager, Don Arden. Drummer Kenney Jones officially revealed the plaque in Carnaby Street at the site of Arden's office where he reputedly signed the band just half an hour after meeting them. The Svengali-like manager, father of Sharon Osbourne, died last month aged 81. The X-Factor judge didn't attend the event in Soho. Val Weedon from Chatham, Kent, who helps run a fans website forum, wrote to Westminster Council and applied for the memorial under their Green Plaque Scheme. Fans then raised £400 to pay for the making and installation of it. Hundreds from across the globe flocked to the Carnaby Street celebration timed to coincide with the annual Small Faces convention. The band are best remembered for hit single Itchycoo Park and have been cited as a major influence on modern acts such as Paul Weller and Oasis. _________________________________________________ thank you for this news Helen I'm very Gratefull to you take care of yourself hugs Valxx
