Cash daughters launch royalties lawsuit
Johnny Cash's daughters have launched a lawsuit over cash royalties for his song 'Ring Of Fire'.
The country music legend's four daughters from his first marriage to Vivian - Rosanna, Kathleen, Cindy and Tara - claim they have never been given cash for the hit track, which is thought to be worth millions of dollars.
They have hired lawyer Eric Bjorgum to investigate the issue, who told the New York Daily News: "His only son (John) has received the lion's share [from 'Ring of Fire']".
John is thought to have shared the royalties for the song with his mother June Carter Cash and songwriter Merle Kilgore.
Vivian Cash claimed in her autobiography I Walked The Line that Johnny, who died in 2003, had told her: "I'm going to give June half credit on a song I just wrote called 'Ring of Fire.'" She then claims that he said he was giving June the royalties because she needed the money.
A lawyer for Cash's estate told FanCast: "We find it noteworthy that their authorship has been unchallenged for over 40 years, and was only questioned after the deaths of Kilgore and the Cashes."
