Donovan admits overdose
Jason Donovan has spoken publicly for the first time of the drugs overdose he suffered at the 21st birthday party of Kate Moss over a decade ago.
The former "Neighbours" actor and pop star releases his autobiography next month, which contains many revelations about his years in showbiz.
These include a near-death experience at a star-studded gathering on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles in 1995, when a passion for drugs almost claimed his life.
An extract from "Between The Lines: My Life Uncut" explains Moss was joined by the likes of Michael Hutchence and Johnny Depp at the event in the infamous Viper Rooms.
"By midnight the entire party had hit the dancefloor", he explained. "Gloria Gaynor had just finished singing 'Happy Birthday' to Kate when Johnny and Michael took to the stage.
"With Johnny on guitar, Michael started to sing the Van Morrison classic 'Gloria' and we were all cheering as we danced.
"The pair were halfway through the song, belting out the chorus, when I realised I was about to go. I knew the symptoms all too well, for it was not the first time this had happened to me.
"My heart was racing, my vision was blurring and I was becoming disorientated. I tried to steady myself but my legs buckled under me and I fell to the floor.
"I am not sure what happened next but I do know that someone had pulled the plug on the music and was calling for an ambulance."
In the book, Donovan said Hutchence was on-hand to empty his pockets, ensuring he wouldn't later be questioned by police for possession of cocaine.
"Between The Lines: My Story Uncut" is due out on October 1.

Donovan: My daughter saved me from drugs
Jason Donovan has claimed that the arrival of his daughter helped him to defeat his drug addiction.
The former popstar had a highly publicised problem with drugs and celebrated the birth of Jemma in 2000 by going on a cocaine binge, but he has insisted that he has been clean for the last six years.
Donovan claimed that having his daughter around him made him realise that he would have to change his lifestyle so that he would not affect his family.
He said: "I dealt with this piece of life-changing news in the only way I knew how - by getting completely off my head."
Donovan, who also has a six-year-old son, added: "I was still using drugs, still going on the odd bender, but as time went on the lure of them was no longer as appealing to me as it had once been."
