Prince shares stage with Elton John
'Purple Rain' singer Prince was joined on stage at London's O2 arena by Elton John last night.
John walked onto the stage without an introduction to collaborate with the popstar on a rendition of The Beatles hit 'The Long And Winding Road'.
The 'Candle In The Wind' star sang on the cover version, while Prince, who is in the middle of his 21-day residency at the concert venue, played the guitar.
A reporter for the BBC who was at the gig, commented: "Sir Elton has performed on stage with many of the top stars of the past three decades, including Eminem and George Michael, but this was still a surprise -albeit one which was much appreciated by the crowd."
Following their duet, Prince told the audience: "You know who it is - Sir Elton John!" Prince's performance at the venue turned into a mammoth event. He worked his way through two long encores - before decamping to neighbouring venue Indigo and kicking off an aftershow performance that lasted more than two hours.
The late night set including a cover version of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, a tribute to the rock band who announced a reunion concert on Wednesday.
