Macca plays Anfield
Thursday September 27, 2007 Paul McCartney is to play a huge show in Liverpool next summer, as part of a celebration of his home town's cultural importance.
Sir Macca will appear at Anfield, the home of Liverpool football club, for the concert in June, as the highlight of a year of events in the city.
Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and Lightning Seed Ian Broudie are confirmed to open the festivities in January at the new King's Dock Arena.
Speaking at the launch today via video link, McCartney said: "I'm very excited about Liverpool being the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
"We have a fantastic series of events which are sure to get you excited too. I'm very proud of the city and I look forward to welcoming you all and showing you a good time."
A series of events across culture are planned throughout 2008, with Ken Dodd and conductor Sir Simon Rattle also amongst the stars involved. ____________________________________________________ thank you Helen sounds great to me ;D take care of yourselfs hugs Valxxx
